Yes Jack at no.2! To quote you: “Absolutely.” Lol. This is one if my favorite episodes. I always tear up at Ben’s “because he;s the only one who will have me.” Phenomenal acting by Michael Emerson. His story in the flash-sideways with Alex is my favorite, along with Locke and Jack’s. The journeys and stories of these three characters (against the ever mysterious and fascinating backdrop of the island and island lore) is what makes this show so special to me. (Honorary mention to: Sun and Jin, Hurley, Sayid, Desmond, and Richard.)

Agreed. Terry O'Quinn's performance is especially stunning in my opinion—not to downplay Emerson's, but the transition between Locke and Flocke is so effective and yet also suitably understated, I never quite stop being in awe. It's really interesting every time I rewatch Lost, watching from the first instance of O'Quinn playing Flocke (before the viewer is informed), noticing those subtle distinctions in his performance.

Jimmy the reason Jacob didn't stop the knife was simple. Just like L from Deathnote he knew his rivalry with Light(MIB in this instance) wasn't going to end anytime soon. So he thought the only way to win was to die and have his heirs take on the battle for him.

This show is about characters. It is why I'll always hold it a favorite and one of the best of all time. It creates a wonderful set of mysteries to draw out tension and speculation, but the show is about the people and it is top notch at taking these people through the ups and downs of life. There is always an uneasiness about "trusting" Ben, but when he comes to Sun and offers help, he appears at his most decent. Not to mention his speech to Ilyana.

Gotta love that homecoming theme at the end when jack and Hurley reunite with beach camp

Ben has always been my favourite character, i was so nervous watching this episode when it aired, was convinced this was the end of him.

I said a while back that episodes 4, 5, 6 and 7 is one of the best run of episodes in the show and the fact you 2 parted 3 of them, it seems you are inclined to agree.
