The theory is that the pollution blocked the river spirit from showing up. So by cleaning the river the Gaang cleansed the area and allowed the Painted Lady to show up! Thought you guys might appreciate that idea.

But when Hei Bei's forest was destroyed and burnt down, they weren't weakened they were angry and on a rampage. So idk, headcanon is nice but doesn't line up in the story xD Painted Lady just petty smh๐๐

2021-01-19 22:19:32 +0000 UTCItโs a good question, some viewers/fans have speculated that the real painted lady couldnโt appear/help because the river was polluted. Itโs common in Asian folklore where if a river spiritโs home river is polluted it weakens their powers.
