I don't know how well you remember your reaction at this point, or the movie itself, but you mentioned that Delores's ability to hear wasn't useful or good. That's a bit baffling to me. Think of her hearing ability as super hearing. You've seen Superman, yes? Bare with me while I try to explain the way I see this. Think about what Superman did with his hearing. He could hear when someone was in trouble and save them. Think about how cool superhearing would be in a battle. You'd hear enemies coming before anyone else, and no matter how quiet they are, you'd hear them drawing a weapon, hear punches before anyone would see them, hear a tornado well before it hits and warn others. A fire breaks out, and you can hear it before anyone knows it's happened and it can be put out before it gets out of control. Also, at the end when the house fell apart, it sounded like some people might have gotten trapped or lost in the rubble. We've heard stories of firemen or responders who hear people calling out or who are hurt and they end up being saved because of it. Imagine how useful Delores would be in a disaster, helping to find survivors. Also, almost any ability in this movie can also be a curse. We saw that with Bruno's power to see the future. Being the bearer or bad news means you might have to tell people things they don't want to hear, and that can make you out to be the bad guy. Luisa's superstrength is cool on paper, sure, but the result was that everyone relied on her to fix everything. Superhearing is no different, which we saw when Delores says she could hear Luisa's eye twitching. The point I'm trying to make is that Superhearing is just like every other ability. It has it's good and bad sides. Great reaction, JV. Looking forward to seeing what's next.
