Ernest is right to a degree, but at the same time, I have to wonder if Charlotte has more flexibility than he thinks. I mean, I forget a lot of the world-building by now, but we know Charlotte studied pharmaceutical botany and the Earl even sends her rare plants, encouraging her hobby. We know that sheโs no longer planning a wedding with that one guy. I forget if the Earl is aware of her current status as a detective, but if he is, thatโs another interesting fact. Because it implies Charlotte might have more freedom than most nobility and/or the Earl is less fussed about appearances than others would be. Though I suppose itโs also possible that her father sees this all as her rebellious period. A time where heโs willing to loosen the restraints until he needs her to follow protocol again. She may very well be toeing the line. Hard to say but what IS a fact is that Ernest is in the dog house ๐ Charlotte 100% has petty queen vibes. I canโt imagine he wonโt regret this.
