In today's random draw of Jockstrap characters I ...  

1. This first guy's name is Stan. I don't have much on him, so he's just filler. I gave him a beach-y tan so imma say he's into surfing and volleyball, but probably also wrestling. He's boring.

2. I don't know this guy's name. He's ripped and blond so he's probably a Tri-Pau.

3. Tagg is a dick. That much I know. He's smug and condescending and very privileged. He holds a position on the Greek Council and in the Oh ...

I'd like to say I have high expectations for Aphrodite's design but truthfully, my expectations are just as high for as everyone else. In my story, the character is a former It girl/provocateur who isn't really taken seriously by her peers but is able to capitalize on her own personal influence very strategically.

I have this grand vision for a piece of promo art for Works and Days based on Les Oreades, the William-Adolphe Bouguereau painting. Like everything about this project, it's very ambitious but I'll get there eventually.

I am figuring out the composition as I work out character designs.

Been working on some new ruff designs for Jockstrap Academy, some are main characters, some supporting, some just random...

1. MK - MK is your run-of-the-mill campus guy. His height is his entire personality. He's a business major, now showy but really fills out a shirt. Wears straight legged jeans and doesn't realize how boring he is. Everybody likes him.

Over my recent vacation I was thinking about my bad creative habits:
1. Making projects much bigger than they need to be
2. Hanging onto old ideas when it's probably better to focus on new ones
3. Rushing and not being happy with the results later

These all lead to procrastination, overthinking and distractions - when I really just want to have fun drawing.

Back from Vacation

I just got back from a few weeks of vacation and am getting back on my routine. Since I'm not a "tourist-y" traveler, I really thought I'd have more time to write and draw while I was away but instead I ended up reassessing my current creative goals. I started drawing this morning and will get back to my old posting schedule.

Towards the Future

I've hit this point where my page progress has slowed - not because I haven't been dedicating the time... I just don't like the work. Ultimately, I know I need equal parts "don't get too precious" and "let's rationalize what you don't like" to move forward.

Vintage Sketchbook - 4/13

While recently purging some old sketches there were some drawings of which I couldn't bring myself to let go. Some are just fun and kinda dirty for dirty's sake and some that remind me that I have all the tools and inspiration that are needed to complete the projects ahead of me.
